My favorite quotes from The Subtle Knife

I read this book a little while back but here are some of my favorite lines from the book! It gets me inspired to finish the third book soon 🙂

“Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit.”

“Then she was pressing her little proud broken self against his face, as close as she could get, and then they died.” (this one made me cry!)

“I found folly everywhere, but there were grains of wisdom in every stream of it.”

“She had asked: What is he? A friend or an enemy?
The alethiometer answered: He is a murderer.
When she saw the answer, she relaxed at once.”

“Doesn’t it scare you having your death close by all the time?” said Lyra. “Why ever would it? If he’s there, you can keep an eye on him. I’d be a lot more nervous not knowing where he was.”
